The relevance of the topic is determined by the fact that the sphere of employment and unemployment is an extremely important and multifaceted area of economic, social and socio-political life. The constant and large-scale regulation of employment and unemployment existing in Kazakhstan determines many trends in this area, in particular, it affects labor mobility, the scale and dynamics of unemployment and employment indicators. Unemployment is not just a lack of work, it is also a social catastrophe that has a powerful and destructive impact on people. Therefore studying the problem of employment and unemployment and finding ways to solve them is not just an important, but also a very relevant issue at the present stage. The formation of the labor market in Kazakhstan in recent years has been due to factors such as the post-crisis development of the economy Kazakhstan and its orientation to the long-term perspective, the adoption and implementation of programs that promote employment growth.
In the second quarter of 2022, 8.8 million people were employed in various sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan, of which 6.7 million people (76.1% of the total number of people employed in the economy) were employed, 2.1 million people were self–employed (23.9% of the total number of people employed in the economy), the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
Compared to the second quarter of 2021, total employment increased by 23.1 thousand people, mainly due to employees (20.4 thousand people).
