INTRODUCTION

This work is devoted to the study of prepositions and their function in the sentence and lexical use of modern English. The use of prepositions is inextricably linked with vocabulary and lexical usage. These parts of speech are the basis for the words expressed by the circumstance or for the complement in the sentence, which are the units of the speech.

The main objective is the peculiarities of the use of English prepositions in grammar and speech.

The main purpose of the study: to determine the importance and functionality of prepositions. Identifying their main functions and analyze if it’s possible to make a sentence or form one’s thought without using a preposition.

Tasks. In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: to study the features of the selected part of speech; to study the use of prepositions in the grammar of the English language, to analyze the features of the implementation of these prepositions in a sentence.

The object of study is the lexical usage, grammar and vocabulary of the English language on the example of JK Rowling “Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows”.

The subject of the study is the use of English prepositions in spelling and its lexical use.

Research methods. To realize the purpose and objectives of the study, the following methods were used: observation, structural, semantic analysis.

Theoretical significance of the study. In the course work, the features of prepositions are analyzed; they are also sorted into categories of appearance in the language.

Background of the study. Issues related to the study of English preposition have already been covered more than once in scientific articles, dissertations, and scientific collections. The theme faces the translation problem, or its identification role in the field of the modern English grammatical. It’s worth to mention the scientific work of Pyatigorsk State University «Theoretical background of the English prepositions» by author I.N. Karapetova^[1].

The author of this article looks at the theoretical underpinnings of the study of spatial prepositions in English from the perspectives of traditional Russian linguistics and foreign languages, as well as the cognitive domains. The investigation of the provided issue allows for the identification of significant developments in Russian prepositional scientific thought.This paper is mainly build on this research work at the same time collecting and analyzing other educational resources.
