Not long ago I was at  the Russian  wedding party. I am studying English language I wanted to learn about the traditions of English wedding. So.. What is wedding?  Wedding is a day when two people in love get married. Every country has its own traditions and customs  of wedding. Some of them can seem very extraordinary or even crazy.

Lets speak about Russian wedding traditions. The morning of this event begins with the ransom of a bride – it’s avery old tradition. The groom with his friends tries to do all the tasks, prepared by bride’s relatives. After the ceremony the newlyweds and the guests go to visit famous sights of the city. At the cafe or restaurant they are met with the round loaf with salt and the one who will bite the largest piece will be the head of the family. Another interesting custom is to say “Bitter!" What is the meaning of this expression? Long ago when the bride came up to the guest with the tray, he or she put money on the tray and took the glass of vodka, drank it and said “Bitter!”, confirming that there were spirits.

Russian wedding, in addition to the bride and the wedding, which came to us from time immemorial, have such traditions: 1.The garter toss his beloved fiancé. 2.The dance of the young. 3.The bride dance with her father. 4.Breaking wine glasses for good luck. 5. Releasing white pigeons. 6.The tradition of celebrating gold and silver weddings.

What are the peculiar traditions of wedding in England?  Something old

                                                                             Something new

                                                                        Something borrowed

                                                                        Something blue

In England the wedding preparations, ceremony and feast have all become loaded with ritual practices to ward off evil and bless the marriage with fortune and fertility.

The choice of date is important. May is traditionally unlucky for weddings.

Traditionally in Britain a bride is escorted to the altar by her father, and then he entrusts his daughter to his son-in-law. The clergyman joins them in matrimony after which the newlyweds are pelted with the confetti. It is an old custom which symbolizes the wish of good luck. On the day of wedding the bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. It’s a very interesting. First, English brides wear more modest wedding dresses. Second, the dresses of the bridesmaids English bride pays for the bride herself. Third, women invited to the wedding come in hats. Fourth, wedding gifts newlyweds do not unpack until the end of the honeymoon. By the way, the honeymoon Russian newlyweds taken from the traditions of the UK. As well as the tradition of throwing the bride's bouquet, came to us from the UK.

As a conclusion I want to say  no matter how different the wedding ceremonies are they have one common trait. The main aim of this event is to secure love to hold from this day forth for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,  in sickness and in helth because it’s a very important to love, trust and understand each other.
