Prequel about the childhood of Sherlock Holmes will be filmed in Russia

In an exciting development for Sherlock Holmes fans worldwide, it has been announced that a prequel showcasing the childhood of the iconic detective will be filmed in Russia. A prequel about the hero's childhood was announced at the festival of film adaptations and forum of cinema and literature in one bottle – Chitka 2.0.

The story will receive a prequel in the form of a film adaptation of the famous Russian novel "The Boy Sherlock Holmes" written by Mikhail Zaitsev. Director Anastasia Denisova told about the project during the event "Chitka 2.0", and her words are quoted by the TASS agency: “The Boy Sherlock Holmes is a book written by our author Mikhail Zaitsev. He was able to reflect Conan Doyle's mood. He was the only one who could tell this childhood story. I want to focus on friendship and on the greatest confrontation between two former friends — Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty," she said.

The storyline of the prequel will delve into Sherlock Holmes' early life, digging into his family history, education, and the circumstances that sparked his interest in solving mysteries. According to the plot of the novel, Sherlock comes to Russia for a vacation, where he learns that the necklace stolen in London turned out to be in St. Petersburg. Sherlock's friend - Moriarty sets him up, throwing him a jewel. Audiences may expect to see his keen observational skills and analytical intellect develop, which would eventually become his signature as the world's finest detective.

The producers are hoping to cast Maria Aronova and Vladimir Mashkov as possible roles in the prequel. The prequel's precise format and release date are unclear. Denisova does not completely rule out the possibility that the initiative may usher in a whole youthful Sherlock series.
