English neologisms in social media

Abstract

The Internet and social networks are an inexhaustible source for the formation of neologisms, since it is obvious that innovative computer technologies have a huge impact on the development of modern English. The current vocabulary that appears in social networks reflects the new opportunities that Internet users constantly have due to the development of information technology. This work is devoted to the functioning of neologisms in social media, the role of neologisms in modern English is determined.

Keywords: neologism, social media, innovative technology, formation of new words.

Английские неологизмы в социальных сетях

Аннотация

Интернет и социальные сети являются неиссякаемым источником для образования неологизмов, так как очевидно, что инновационные компьютерные технологии оказывают огромное влияние на развитие современного английского языка. Актуальная лексика, возникающая в социальных сетях, отражает новые возможности, которые постоянно появляются у пользователей Интернета благодаря развитию информационных технологий. Данная работа посвящена функционированию неологизмов в социальных сетях, определена роль новообразований в современном английском языке.

Ключевые слова: неологизм, социальные сети, инновационные технологии, образование новых слов.

Интернет пен әлеуметтік желілер неологизмдердің қалыптасуының сарқылмас көзі болып табылады, өйткені инновациялық компьютерлік технологиялар қазіргі ағылшын тілінің дамуына үлкен әсер ететіні анық. Әлеуметтік желілерде пайда болатын қазіргі лексика ақпараттық технологиялардың дамуына байланысты Интернет пайдаланушыларының үнемі ие болатын жаңа мүмкіндіктерін көрсетеді. Бұл жұмыс әлеуметтік желілердегі неологизмдердің қызмет етуіне арналған, қазіргі ағылшын тіліндегі неологизмдердің рөлі анықталған.

Introduction

Many world languages have great potential for improvement and renewal. Being in constant interaction with society, of course,the languageis influenced by it and changes in accordance with the results of human activity.Gaining independence by Kazakhstan, political, economic and cultural transformations caused a significant inflow of neologisms. The changes observed in the life of Kazakhstani society have influenced the functional transformation of such a mobile formation of vocabulary as neologisms.

Like society, the language is in constant dynamics, in a state of constant development; therefore its lexical composition is continuously enriched, activating the processes of formation of new lexical units. This ability to progress is a reflection of the social nature of the language system.

The replenishment of the vocabulary of the language becomes the result of the formation of new concepts denoting recently emerged objects and phenomena, that is neologisms.
