1 Слайд. Вступление 1
Dear colleagues and guests of our presentation! Today we would like to talk about an important topic: environmental habits in the office. Environmental problems are becoming more and more urgent every year, but our company does not adhere to a policy of indifference to this issue.
2 Слайд. Вступление 2
We care about the future of our planet and want to do our part to protect it. That's why we'd like to share with you some simple and effective ways to reduce your environmental footprint, build green habits, and cut costs. Together we can create a pleasant and healthy workplace by standing on the side of nature!
3 Слайд. Coffee cups
Disposable coffee cups pose a significant threat to the environment. These cups are not recyclable, and they end up in landfills where they take hundreds of years to decompose. The plastic lining in these cups makes it impossible to recycle them, and this leads to a massive waste problem. In the United States alone, over 50 billion disposable cups are thrown away each year, which is equivalent to around 20 million trees being cut down.
The production of disposable cups also has a significant impact on the environment. The manufacturing process requires a lot of energy and resources, which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. Additionally, the transportation of these cups to coffee shops and stores increases the carbon footprint.
To combat this issue, we need to adopt eco-friendly habits and switch to reusable mugs and thermoses. By doing so, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste generated by disposable cups. Reusable mugs and thermoses are made from sustainable materials and can be used multiple times, reducing the need for constant production and disposal of single-use cups.
4 Слайд. Collect plastic bottle and caps
Continuing the story about the need to combat the problem of plastic waste, it is impossible not to mention the importance of collecting and recycling plastic bottles and caps.
Currently, only 9% of plastic waste is recycled globally. The rest ends up in landfills or the environment, where it can take hundreds of years to decompose. This is a significant problem, as plastic waste can harm wildlife and marine life. In fact, it's estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
In the office, we can take steps to reduce our plastic waste by collecting and recycling plastic bottles and caps. This can be done by setting up recycling bins in convenient locations throughout the office, such as near the coffee machine or near the fridge.
Another important aspect of reducing our impact on the environment is shredding and recycling paper documents. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, paper makes up about 25% of landfill waste and 33% of municipal waste. In addition, the average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper per year, and 45% of that ends up in the trash.
5 Слайд. Shred and recycle paper
Shredding paper documents before recycling them not only makes it easier to transport the waste to recycling points, but it also ensures that confidential information is kept secure. This is especially important for businesses that deal with sensitive information, such as financial or medical records.
