Given how challenging it is for many businesses to survive and remain competitive in the current economic climate, this work's topic is especially relevant. There are numerous strategies and tactics for resolving the crisis situations that face businesses. Some of them, like reengineering, are successfully used in practice.
When Japanese companies, which were more economically superior to those of the United States, started to enter the domestic market in the early 1990s, American enterprises were on the verge of failure. This is when reengineering as an economic phenomenon first emerged in the country. It called for a rapid and effective response to the problem. Then, Professor Michael Hammer invented the term "business process reengineering". According to Hammer, reengineering is the essential revision and redesign of business processes within a company with the aim of significantly improving the organization's key current performance indicators, such as performance, price, service speed, etc. [1]
Reengineering is now viewed by economists as a business revolution that departs from the fundamental business companies concepts and transforms business design into an engineering activity. The potential for such a revolution is mostly attributable to the most recent developments in the field of information technology, whose experts are starting to take main stage in company strategy. Reengineering is a field of study that has emerged at the intersection of management and information technology. To present and handle problematic information in a way that is clear to managers and information system engineers is a requirement of reengineering. The development of the necessary tools to facilitate reengineering and the integration of significant information technology advancements are required for such tools.
The main purpose of this work is to develop a project for reengineering the company’s business processes (on the example of Nokia company), which aims to developing software and improving marketing strategies with collaboration with public personas.
To achieve this goal, the following tasks were performed:
- analysis of the project was conducted;
- the objectives and outcomes of the project are established using such a tool as the "goal tree", as well as the requirement for the project’s achievement;
- the influence of both external and internal environmental factors on the project, such as the participation of stakeholders in the project, possible risks and performance indicators, is evaluated;
- detailed project plan applying network schedules, milestone plans, calendar plan;
- the project budget has been forecasted.
