This holiday in the UK

   Initially, the day of gifts on the Foggy Albion was planned so that families after Christmas could continue to enjoy each other's company. Therefore, Boxing day is celebrated on December 26. In the UK, this day is an official holiday, and if it coincides with Sunday, it is transferred to the next day. The British hold sacred their centuries-old traditions, so everyone knows the history of the origin of the holiday. A few centuries ago, the day after Christmas, employers sought to encourage their employees and distributed money and valuables among them. Weaving factories encouraged their workers with cloth, grocery stores-products.

Tradition in modern society

   These days, this tradition has been transformed, and now people in the UK have a unique opportunity to buy goods at discounted prices at a post-Christmas sale. Also on the day of gifts it is customary to attend various sports events. As the founders of football, the British did not miss the opportunity to make an additional round in the Premier League.

   You can give anything on this day. The main thing is that the gift was Packed in a beautiful holiday box. After all, literally Boxing Day is translated as"day of boxes". Congratulations on the day of gifts are usually received by all service employees. Despite the fact that the British, as well as all other people in the world, are involved in the pre-holiday fuss, they are so polite that they do not forget to write a few words to all the people with whom they interacted during the year. Holiday cards with warm greetings are received by all sellers, postmen, Laundry workers and other service personnel. Mail works in enhanced mode and delivers more than a billion cards to various recipients.

   Now this holiday is often called the second Christmas day. But to a single version of the origin of this holiday so no one came. Too many sources are eager to appropriate authorship. In addition to the fact that employers gave their workers valuable things in every home and encouraged servants. Most often, the British prefer to travel to nature outside the city, they meet with their relatives and friends. Ardent admirers of shopping are ready to be on duty in shops of midnight if only to appear among the first on favorable sales. Earlier in the day the English elite loved to hunt foxes. They wore red festive uniforms, sat on horses and surrounded themselves with a whole pack of hunting dogs. Now hunting animals is officially prohibited, so gambling people are increasingly inclined to visit the races. Officially, this holiday is held in all countries of the Commonwealth of Nations. Therefore, in addition to the UK, this day is officially celebrated in all its former colonies and dominions: in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and several small island States.
