Nowadays there are various types of mass media and people are united into one global community with the help of mass media. People can learn about what is happening in the world very fast using mass media. Mass media include newspapers, magazines, radio, television and the Internet. They inform, educate and entertain people. Mass media shape public opinion and views.

Today radio, newspapers and television are less popular media. They have been replaced by the internet. But some people still use them. There are popular national daily newspapers such as “The Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus” and “The Vecherniy Minsk”. There are also national weekly newspapers such as “The Arguments and the Facts”. Most newspapers contain news, detailed articles, reviews of books and TV-shows, sport events. But there is also a yellow press now. People get what they are interested in. And the task of industry is to meet the demands of people.

Radio is especially popular with drivers. At any station you will hear native or foreign pop music.

Television includes various news, films, shows, political, scientific and sports programs. TV brings the world to our room and helps us to relax after hard work. But now many people prefer to watch their favorite programs on the Internet.

The Internet is the most popular media. It represents all sources in one. Using internet we can quickly find necessary information, movies, music, sports, cooking, creativity and so on. We can write a message anywhere or make calls to any part of the world. We can pay online. Many people now use the Internet as a place of work or for individual promotion.

Mass media plays a big role in our society. Today there is a lot of information on social networks and this information may not be true. So, people shouldn’t blindly believe any information. They should check the information and be careful about what to believe.
