Today I am going to tell you about effects and pitfalls of social networking.

At the beginning I will tell you about social networks in general, then I am going to tell you something about effects of using them, then about pitfalls, take a look at one graph, after that I will tell you how to use social networks wisely, and in the end, I will make a summary.  

        Slide 3 – Social networks

        Today's topic of my presentation is about phenomena that have become part of our lives in the modern world - social networks. Social media is now part of every aspect of our lives, changing our habits, interactions, and even our perception of reality.

         However, behind the colorful profiles and the limitless flow of information, not only positive aspects are revealed, but also a number of effects and pitfalls that I am drawing attention to today.

        Slide 4 – Effects of using social networks:

        The first aspect I want to bring to your attention is dependency and time. Social media can become a real addiction, consuming our attention and time. Every time we check notifications or scroll through our news feed, we waste valuable time that we could spend on more useful things. This can lead to decreased productivity, poor concentration, and even health problems associated with big amount of time use of gadgets.

        The second aspect is the emotional state. Comparing yourself to others and striving for idealized lifestyles presented on social media can lead to poor well-being and negative emotions. People often experience the phenomenon of "FOMO" (fear of missing out), which can cause anxiety and dissatisfaction with their lives.

        Slide 5 - Pitfalls:

        One of the main pitfalls of social networks is the issue of privacy and security. Frequent cases of personal information leaks and cyberbullying highlight the need for careful handling of personal data on social networks. Many users do not realize that the information they share on social networks can be available to the public or even used for criminal purposes.

        Another pitfall is the impact of social networks on interpersonal relationships. Although social networks provide an opportunity to stay in touch with friends from a distance, they can also lead to a decrease in real contacts and distorted ideas about other people. Filters and content editing can create the illusion of a perfect life, which in turn can lead to disappointment and misunderstandings in real-life relationships.
