Business communication style of a Russia

Introduction

Hello, My name is Victoria Denisenko.

I am here to give a short presentation on business communication style in Russia

The subject of my talk is Business culture in Russia.

Structure

My presentation is in four parts.

The first part is devoted to the cultural dimensions of Russia.

In the second part, the style of communication in the country is considered in more detail.

The third section presents some facts about business culture.

The fourth gives some recommendations on how to behave in business situations.

As you can see, Russians who scored 95 points are very afraid of ambiguous situations, and have also created one of the most complex bureaucracies in the world.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the level of dimension of Condescension is quite low among other indicators – only 20 points. Societies with a low score on this parameter are prone to cynicism and pessimism. This is reflected in the restrained nature of Russian culture.

The relatively low Masculinity score in Russia (36 points) may surprise in relation to her preference for status symbols, but in Russia this is due to the high-power distance of 93 points.

Communication style

Although they may soften their tone by talking about sensitive topics, they usually speak to the point and speak briefly. Because of this, non-Russians may get the impression that they are quite straightforward when it is not intended.

Humor: Russian humor is very sarcastic, dry and contented. Often this is self-deprecation.

Obscene language: Russians tend to swear in random situations.

Analyzing nonverbal communication, we can also distinguish several groups of communications:

Personal space: Russians usually sit and stand close enough to each other.

Physical contact: Reaching out and touching another person during a conversation is a sign of confidence in a relationship. Friends can hug or kiss on the cheek to greet, but Russians are usually limited in physical contact.
