                                               Text A. The Heart and the Vascular System

The heart is an inner hollow muscular organ placed within the chest and included in the pericardium. Сердце - это внутренний полый мышечный орган, расположенный в грудной клетке и включенный в перикард

The base of the heart is against the third rib. Основание сердца упирается в третье ребро.

Its apex is against the interspace between the fifth and sixth costal cartilages. Его вершина находится напротив промежутка между пятым и шестым реберными тележками.

The weight of the heart is about 300 grams in the male and about 220 gr in the female.

Вес сердца составляет около 300 граммов у самца и около 220 грамм у самки.

The heart consists of two separate chambers divided by the septum.  Сердце состоит из двух отдельных камер, разделенных перегородкой.

Each of the chambers has two connected parts: the atrium and the ventricle. Каждая из камер состоит из двух соединенных частей: предсердия и желудочка.

The atrioventricular valves separate the atria from the ventricles. Атриовентрикулярные клапаны отделяют предсердия от желудочков.

The right atrium is larger than the left one, but the walls of the left atrium are thicker than those of the right one. Правое предсердие больше левого, но стенки левого

предсердия толще, чем у правого.

The right ventricle is triangular in form and has thick walls. Правый желудочек имеет треугольную форму и толстые стенки.

The right ventricle is in the anterior part of the heart. Правый желудочек находится в передней части сердца.

The left ventricle is longer and more conical than the right one. Левый желудочек длиннее и более конический, чем правый

The walls of the left ventricle are three times as thick as the walls of the right one. Стенки левого желудочка в три раза толще стенок правого.

The valves are located at the entrance and exit of each ventricle. Клапаны расположены на входе и выходе каждого желудочка

The muscular structure of the heart consists of fibrous bands divided into two groups – the muscular layers of the atria and the muscular layers of the ventricles. Мышечная структура сердца состоит из волокнистых полос , разделенных на две группы - мышечные слои предсердий и мышечные слои желудочков.

The vascular system consists of three groups of vessels – arteries, veins and capillaries. Сосудистая система состоит из трех групп сосудов – артерий, вен и капилляров.

The vessels carrying blood to and from the tissues of the body compose the general system. Сосуды, несущие кровь к тканям тела и из них, составляют общую систему.

They are called the systemic vessels. Они называются системными сосудами.

The pulmonary system is formed by the vessels carrying blood to and from the lungs. Легочная система образована сосудами, несущими кровь в легкие и из них.

The portal system is formed by the veins passing to the liver. Портальная система образована венами, проходящими в печень.

Most of the arteries are composed of three coats. Большинство артерий состоит из трех слоев.

The arteries dilate and contract simultaneously with the action of the heart. Артерии расширяются и сокращаются одновременно с работой сердца.

The lungs are the main organs of the respiratory system. Легкие являются основными органами дыхательной системы.
