- употребляется для описания законченных действий в прошлом
I graduated from university in 2010.
He left home at 7.30 in the morning.
- употребляется для описания цепочки последовательно происходивших действий в прошлом
James Sainsbury set up a dairy in 1869. The business expanded and grew, and eventually became the largest chain of supermarkets in Britain.
