Without capital punishment, our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to controlling violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.
Capital punishment still exists in certain countries of our world. It is easy to see that this form of punishment is a topic of debate. Some people believe that it is a deterrent against crime and helps to maintain law and order. Conversely, others argue that the lack of capital punishment would put people's lives at risk and lead to an increase in violent crime. However, we cannot blindly deny the large amount of evidence that casts doubt on this point of view. Let's look at this topic in a little more detail.
One of the main arguments in favor of the death penalty is its deterrent factor: it’s believed that the fear of such a possible ending will keep people from committing serious crimes. However, counterarguments and numerous studies cast doubt on this point of view. In addition, the probability of getting a life sentence in a penal colony is not so rosy; so also keeping a criminal in prison with such a sentence is cheaper for the government.
In addition, the use of the death penalty raises ethical concerns about the value of human life and the possibility of wrongful convictions. The justice system is not infallible, as much as we would like to believe it, and there have been numerous cases of innocent people being executed. The irreversible nature of the death penalty means that there is no room for error, and such a risk is too high a price to pay.
In conclusion, I cannot agree that the death penalty is necessary to control violence and increase security. Whatever the arguments in its defense, there are none that can make you close your eyes to all the disadvantages. I therefore believe that the government shouldn’t kill to show that such a crime is unacceptable. It seems to me that there is no place for the death penalty these days.
