The strange story of Maurice Wilson

This is the story of the strange death of Maurice Wilson. He tried to climb Mount Everest in the 1930s. He planned to fly from Britain and land on the big Rongbuk glacier. But the authorities did not like his idea, and they tried to prevent him, as well as the authorities of Nepal and Tibet refused to let him into their territories. He also did not know how to fly an airplane and had never taken to the air before, and his left arm was injured, meaning he could only partially use it. Then, two months after his first piloting lesson, he flew alone to India in a tiny supported plane. Disguised as a tibetan monk, he managed to get into Tibet. He walked several hundred miles to the Rongbuk Monastery at the foot of Mount Everest. Maurice went up the glacier without a guide. He was often lost on the way, so it took him 3 days to get to Camp 2. There was climbing equipment in the camp, but he did not take them and went on. When he climbed to a height of 6500 meters, there was a storm, so he had to sit in his tent for 2 days. When the storm subsided, he got back to the monastery barely alive. After resting for two days, he decided to try again, and asked two Sherpas to help him carry supplies up the mountain. With their help, he got to Camp 3, but again there was a strong wind and snowfall and he could not move further. When the weather got better, he continued on his way alone and climbed 7500 meters, and returned back to Camp 3. He was exhausted and had headaches, since he had been at such an altitude for 6 days. The Sherpas tried to stop him and asked him to surrender, but Maurice wanted to try again. Also, his last words in his diary were optimistic. After the last attempt to climb the mountain, he did not return. His body was found a year later, he was wearing only green boots, a grey suit and a purple jersey.
