The development of school education in the Republic of Belarus is based on the principles of the inseparable connection of the ongoing transformations with the demands of society, the state and the individual, ensuring the unity of education and upbringing, relying on experience, the best traditions and achievements of the Soviet school. It is a well-known truth that there is no limit to perfection. But this statement does not mean that you need to give up trying and does not strive for anything. One of the powerful ways to make some progress is to use someone else's positive experience, the experience of other countries, and the ability to learn from other people's mistakes. And you can understand someone else's experience only by analyzing and comparing it with a similar situation in your country. The object of the study is the educational systems of the Republic of Belarus and the USA, and its subject is a comparative analysis of these systems.

The characteristics of each of the systems lead to the following significant differences between these two education systems:

1. In the USA, the education system is characterized by a high degree of flexibility and autonomy. Each state has its own educational system. There is a great autonomy of schools and educational districts. School councils consisting of parents, teachers and senior students play a great role in school management.

In Belarus, education management is centralized, comes from the directives of the authorities, the Ministry of Education in particular. The role of the school's self-government is insignificant.

2. In the USA, the distribution of money from the budget for education has an open form. This information is available.

In Belarus, information about the distribution of funds from the budget is closed.

3. School education in the USA (in most states) is 12 years. In Belarus, this period is 11 years.

4. In the USA, a bachelor's degree is considered a diploma of higher education. In the Republic of Belarus, the prestige of a bachelor's degree in employment is low.

5. The school curriculum of each student has an elective character, although the list of compulsory subjects remains, the range of which is quite wide. Each student can choose a specialization and attend additional specialization classes for free or for a small fee. Study can be compatible with work.

In Belarus, all subjects studied are mandatory. There are also electives, which, however, are not widespread enough, since there are not in every school and not in full.

6. The assessment systems in the USA and the Republic of Belarus are different. In Belarus, a 10-point rating scale is used, in the USA - a hundred-point scale.

7. The academic year in Belarusian schools is divided into 4 quarters, in the USA - into 2 semesters or 3 trimesters.

8. The beginning of the academic year in Belarus is September 1. There is no analogue of our Knowledge Day holiday in the USA, since the school year begins in different months in different states.

9. American universities have an international system of credits (credits) that allows students to interrupt and continue their studies at any time, change the university, etc. There is no such system in Belarus yet, but it is planned to introduce it if Belarus joins the Bologna Process.

10. Thanks to the credit system, American higher education is accepted and taken into account when applying for employment in European countries, since the same system operates there (the Bologna Process). Belarusian higher education is not so highly valued in Western European countries.

11. In the USA, the system of private schools is better developed than in Belarus, there is no monopoly of state institutions for the provision of educational services. This causes competition between even a few private schools in the USA and public ones, which contributes to the development of public schools. In Belarus, there is no such incentive for the development of public schools due to the almost complete absence of private schools

12. In the Belarusian school, as in the post-Soviet one, the pedagogical principle of educating a person in a team and through a team is very strongly implemented. In the American school, the principle of an individual approach is implemented more vividly.
