Humanitarian Logistics

1. Introduction

This course is about humanitarian supply chain. For example, we can learn about some details in humanitarian logistics, management and so on. This course was made by Hanken University from Finland and it consists only 2 parts (2 weeks), so it’s not so big. I can also say about some types of exercises that I have finished. For example, the most popular type was about reading some information and writing your own opinion. Furthermore, sometimes you need to watch some videos, draw small schemes and so on.

1. Body

Let’s start from the first week.

As I said before, the most popular type of exercises was reading. So, let’s consider some examples.

Here you can see several questions that are in one task. We need to answer these questions and read some other opinions from people.

I don’t think that it’s necessary to say about all tasks this type, so let’s just continue.

In addition to reading activities, I made some tests that consist all information from the topic one. Later, I will show you other ones. Here I show just an example of my work.

Sometimes you need to watch videos, but there are no tasks. You just watch video and notice some important information about this topic.

This activity connects with Padlet. So, you need to read some information again and then you have to make a picture about topic that you’ve learnt. To be honest, I didn’t make any pictures, but it wasn’t necessary, because you just can watch examples from other people. At this moment, the first week is finished.

These quizzes weren’t so hard, because it’s about understanding information that you’ve learnt, so nobody would give you a rating. You just need to revise some information and check yourself.

1. Conclusion

Advantages:

• You can learn about humanitarian logistics
• You improve your knowledge about supply chain
• You can find new ways to solve some problems
• You can interact with other people from the world
• This course is free to entrance, but only for 2 weeks

Disadvantages:

• Boring exercises
• Short access to this course
• Full price is not so democratic
• Sometimes information can repeat

To be honest, it was very interesting to complete this course, because I found some new elements from logistics that I’ve never known before. For example, now I can identify some humanitarian logistics functions and activities, some processes and problems that we need to know and solve as fast as we can.
