Victor Astafyev wrote about his friend, Yevgeny Nosov, ‘He was an ordinary fighter, he doesn't like to talk about the war ... the fighter's wounds will be more strongly told about war. . It is impossible to fray sacred words in vain. However, one can not lie about the war. And it is bad to write about sufferings of the people – it is a shame. …"

Так написал о Е.Носове его друг, писатель-фронтовик, Виктор Астафьев: «Доподлинный окопник, рядовой боец, он не любит говорить о войне… Раны бойца больше и сильнее скажут о войне. Нельзя всуе трепать святые слова. Как впрочем, нельзя и врать о войне. А плохо писать о страданиях народа – стыдно.…» [1]

Let's imagine a huge temple. It was dark and gloomy. Somebody lit a candle. It was little but its living flame trembled. It was alive. Who lit the candle of our memory? Certainly the writers whose works we read and love. One of them – Yevgeny Nosov.  What person was Yevgeny Nosov? This is the person who survived during the war and other troubles of the military years. He kept sympathy for people in trouble.

Давайте представим себе огромный храм, темный и мрачный. И вот в этом храме зажгли свечу – она тоненькая, маленькая, но ее живой огонек трепещет, не сдается. Он живой. Кто же зажег свечу нашей памяти? Конечно, писатели, которых мы читаем и любим. Один из них – Евгений Иванович Носов. Каким же человеком был Евгений Носов?  

The outstanding Russian writer Evgeny Ivanovich Nosov was born on January 15, 1925 in the village of Tolmachevo, near Kursk. In 1933 Yevgeny went to the Kursk secondary school.

In October 1943 he was drafted into the Red Army . Evgeny Ivanovich was awarded by awards “the Red Star”, “The  Patriotic War of the II degree”, the medals "For Courage" and "For a Victory over Germany".

After the war he graduated from high school. Soon he moved to Kazakhstan, where he worked as a graphic designer, a literary employee. In 1951 Yevgeny Nosov returned to Kursk and began to work in the newspaper "The Young Guard”. In 1957 he was seriously engaged in literary work.

Yevgeny Nosov appeared as the original artist, the magnificent stylist, the singer of the nature of the native land. You can see many people in various  stages of  the development of the Motherland  in the centre of  his attention.  The writer’s works were published in many little-known languages of the world. Many films and performances were made after his stories.

Yevgeny Nosov was awarded by the title of  the  Hero of Socialist Labour (1990), two Lenin’s awards (1984, 1990), “the Labour  Red Flag” (1975) and “The Honour Sign” (1971) for outstanding achievements in the development of Soviet literature and social activities. Yevgeny Nosov is the Honorary citizen of the city of Kursk.

Евгений Носов предстал как  самобытный художник, великолепный стилист, певец природы родного края, и в центре его внимания - всегда человек на различных этапах развития Родины. Произведения курского писателя изданы на языках народов СССР, на всех основных и многих малоизвестных языках мира. По его повестям и рассказам поставлены кинофильмы и спектакли.

Yevgeny Ivanovich was truly the Master in everything – he wrote excellent short stories and novels, sketches and articles, miniatures and poems … There lives the soul in each work.

     Евгений Иванович был Мастером воистину во всём – он писал превосходные рассказы и повести, очерки и статьи, миниатюры и стихи… В каждой работе живёт душа, в каждой живописной его работе и фотографии – его любимые просторы, холмы, речки…

The Master of painting. He painted the landscapes of his native land, warmed by the warmth of his heart.

       в мир спокойствия, свободы,

 в царство рыб и куликов,

                                                на свои родные воды,

   на простор степных лугов,

в тень прохладную лесов

                                               и в свои младые годы…

After the World War II the whole generation of  writers-veterans came to Russian literature. Yesterday's soldiers came to share the pain of loss and suffering. They told what a terrible price they paid for the Great Victory. One of these writers was Yevgeny Nosov. The life of this writer associated with the memory of the war. Nosov wrote a little about the war, but his stories came to literature  forever. The war ended many years ago but  Nosov was tormented by the pain of memory. He worried for those who was orphaned. He said, "It’s our  memory…Everybody should understand what the price we paid for the victory over the most fierce of the enemies who has ever attacked the Russian land. "
