Lezgins belong

      The Lezgins belong to the indigenous peoples of the Caucasus. The nationality belongs to the Caucasoid race and is the second people of the Republic of Dagestan in terms of numbers. The nationality lives in the Russian Federation in the south of Dagestan and in the north of Azerbaijan. For many centuries they were called "leks", or "legs". At the same time, it is well known that it is the Lezgin peoples who are the direct descendants of the ancient Albanians who fought against the Romans, Arabs, Turks and other conquerors. Lezgins have not only a bright history, but also interesting traditions and culture.

    In every Lezgi family there is unquestioning obedience to the elders.  Great respect is shown to the elderly.  They are not allowed to do hard work.  There used to be gender inequality.  But modern women are already economically independent, as they work, have access to education and social activities.  There are ancient traditions that do not allow a modern Lezgi woman to achieve equality with a man.  In many families, women are still not allowed to eat with men in front of strangers, and men are ashamed to openly help a woman in her work.  But raising a hand against a woman or somehow insulting her dignity is considered a great shame not only for the man who went for it, but also for his entire family and close people from his environment.

       The Lezgins have a lot of interesting traditions associated with their holidays.  However, I would like to talk about economic traditions and customs, since the Lezgins love nature and have respected it since ancient times.

 They have their own holidays dedicated to nature:

• The vernal equinox.  On this day, the Lezgins celebrated the beginning of agricultural work.  On the night of March 22, bonfires were lit in all courtyards, and rifles were fired.  The next day, everyone dressed in new clothes and prepared festive treats.  The feast was accompanied by impromptu performances and various costumed processions.
• First sowing.  Before starting the sowing of spring and winter crops, the mistress of the house had to treat the first person she met with a bread cake.  The owner, with five fingers, made small holes in the ground and put the first grains there, but if after some time sprouts did not sprout from any recess, then the corresponding finger was wrapped with a bandage during sowing.
• Flower Festival.  The youth at the appointed time traditionally went to pick flowers in the mountains.  Then, dressed in smart clothes, girls and boys went to the nearest aul and performed various festive ceremonies there with dances and power competitions.
• Collection of cherries.  An original holiday with dancing, singing and games, which is dedicated to the purchase and sale of cherry fruits, cherry trees.

Culture.
   The Lezgins have a very interesting culture, but most of all people are interested in the dance - Lezginka.
    Lezginka is one of the main brands of the peoples of the Caucasus.  The name of this dance may indicate its origin from the Lezgin people, but for hundreds of years the Lezginka has become the main pan-Caucasian dance.  It is performed during festivities and celebrations, and gained wide popularity thanks to a clear rhythm that can conquer with its temperament.
   Initially, the dance had a symbolic meaning: it was performed as a ritual before a battle or a hunt.  Lezginka received world fame and love in 1935 during the World Folk Dance Festival, where dancers from the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theater performed.  The temperamental dance made a splash among the foreign audience.
