Биография
- Joseph Eugene Stiglitz (born in 1943) - American economist, neoclassic, Nobel laureate. Stiglitz was born into a Jewish family in Gary, Indiana, USA. In 1960 - 1963, Stiglitz studied at Amherst College, but he never received a bachelor's degree there. After winning a grant, he continued his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he worked under the guidance of four other Nobel laureates in economics - Robert Solow, Kenneth Arrow, Paul Samuelson and Franco Modigliani.
- In 1965 - 1966, Stiglitz conducted research on the problems of innovation, economic growth and redistribution of income at the University of Cambridge in England
- in 1967, Stiglitz received a doctorate degree. Later Stiglitz was engaged in teaching activities (universities of Cambridge, Stanford, Oxford, Yale
- In 1997–2000, Stiglitz served as vice president and chief economist of the World Bank (resigned under pressure after publicly accusing the World Bank and the IMF of wrong policies in Russia and Southeast Asia).
