As she left the house, she spotted her husband eagerly waiting for her. "Where's Wolf?" she inquired. Walt Irvine responded, "He was around just now, chasing a rabbit!" Excitedly calling for Wolf on their way to the road, Irvine whistled loudly, causing her to cover her ears and make a face.
Dear Madge, in her usual manner, practical yet amusing, remarked, "Ah, there's our Wolf!?" A surprising sight awaited them – forty feet above, a wolf's head and shoulders appeared on the edge of a rock wall. The man and woman joyfully called out to him.
After some minutes, Wolf joined them on the road, and they affectionately caressed him, with the woman showing a bit more tenderness. Eventually, he ran ahead of them down the road, resembling a huge wolf with unique brown and red-brown coloring.
Despite his unsociable behavior, the man and woman loved Wolf. His mysterious past began when he arrived at their cottage tired and hungry, even snarling at them. Although unsociable, he stayed, sleeping by the spring and eating the food they provided. However, he disappeared once when he regained better health.
During Irvine's journey to the northern state, he spotted Wolf running alongside the train. Driven by impulse, Irvine got off at the next station, He bought meat, and captured the dog on the town's outskirts. The return journey, in the baggage car, marked Wolf's second arrival at the little cottage. Despite being tied up and tenderly cared for, he retained an otherworldly demeanor, snarling at them but never barking.
